Darrel Drown, CFP
Darrel Drown received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1989 from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Education from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. Darrel’s financial experience incorporates teaching mathematics (1977-1980), managing the Howard County School Systems Budget Office (1980-1990) and providing individual financial planning to his many clients (1990-present). He is associated with a Registered Investment Advisor and he is experienced in Long-Term Care and Charitable Giving strategies. His practice specializes in providing comprehensive financial planning for the retirement and estate-planning client. Darrel is a 35-year resident of Howard County and a life-long resident of Central Maryland. He has served on the Howard County Council, the Howard County Zoning Board and the Howard County Liquor Board. Darrel and his wife Dori have three grown sons, four grandchildren and a continually growing family. In his free time Darrel relaxes by skiing, playing tennis, hacking at golf, reading, and taking trips with his family.
Travis Drown is Darrel's youngest son. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Family Financial Planning. He has his Series 6, 63 and 65 registrations as well as his Life and Health insurance license. Travis joined Drown Financial in 2012 with the goal to get to know each individual client and work alongside Darrel in every facet of the business as he continues in his father’s footsteps.
Travis has been focusing on growing the business through incorporating the use of new technology, as well as reaching out to our younger clients to emphasize and encourage the idea of planning for their future.
On the personal side, Travis is married to Ashley who is currently serving in the U.S. Airforce as a Dentist. Travis has begun officiating college and high school football in the area, as well as taking on a leadership position with his church’s youth group. In his free time he enjoys golf, tennis, and bicycling.
Sandi Collins is Darrel’s administrative assistant and has been employed with Darrel for over 25 years. She grew up in Ellicott City, MD, and then moved to Carroll County where she lived for 12 years. She currently divides her time between Ellicott City, MD and a home at Lake Anna, VA.
Sandi has two grown daughters and two grandchildren. She is an avid pet lover and loves gardening, spending time with the family and relaxing on the lake.
She also received the 2013 award for “Exceptional Customer Service” from our PFG agency office in State College.
Doris Foxx is Drown Financial Services newest addition to the team. As the client service associate, Doris works very closely with Sandi to accomplish the day-to-day needs of the office. She has lived in Howard County for 12 years and currently attends Howard Community College. She is married with children and loves to travel. In her free time, she enjoys reading and playing tennis.
Jaida Frederick is the new front desk assistant. She was born and raised in Baltimore County, where she still resides. She recently attended St. John’s University in New York. Jaida has a passion for dance and loves to teach children how to dance in her spare time. She is also a wonderful mother and enjoys reading and spending lots of time with her daughter.
